Ace Blakley X Lucky Brand /\ Free People

Hey Ladies! Do you have a super cute shirt or dress that you paid a pretty penny for and want to get the most possible wears out of it? Looking for multiple ways to style it? I'm here to help. Send me a pic of your shirt/dress to info@aceblakley.com with STYLE THIS in the subject line and I will wear and style a similar shirt/dress at least 3 different ways just for you on my next blog.

This cream long sleeve flare Ace Blakley shirt, which retails for $80, is so comfortable and well made it is totally worth the money. Here are some ways to wear it more than once and maximize your investment. Let's switch it up a bit to transform this look... Below are some cute finds from Lucky Brand & Free People at Macy's Cherry Hill. The leather jacket shown below is from a previous purchase at Forever 21.

The flannel Lucky Brand vest gave the look a real street style feel...very relaxed and effortless. I felt super glam when I paired the faux fur jacket with my Ace Blakley top. If I would have worn a pair of thick sole/chunky heels the look would have really been complete! I'll try that out next time :)

Lucky Brand & Free People too pricey? Find similar jackets, vests and coats at your local thrift shop.

Designing For The Majority

I wrote and rewrote this blog so many times that honestly I’m exhausted just thinking about it. As a designer who has designed for both straight and plus size it is disheartening to me that a lot of other designers have not even entertained the idea of designing for women over a size 8. Size 8? Really? Even though a size 8 would never grace their runway, lookbook or website…sigh. The average American woman’s size is a 14. Let’s be real. Women under a size, let’s say 10, have hundreds of thousands of options (I don’t think I’m exaggerating) when it comes to shopping for clothes. On the other hand plus size women can probably count on one hand the brick and mortar stores they can shop at. The younger generation of trendy full-figured women usually mix and match from different straight size stores that offer pieces that may run a little larger than that particular store’s usual selection. Ask one of these young women “What’s your favorite plus size brand?” and chances are they won’t have an answer for you. They like a few items from this brand and a few items from that brand, but can’t identify with a line that is consistent in their efforts to offer stylish quality garments. Go figure…

Ace Blakley is on its way to being that brand. The brand that women can trust to provide them with contemporary styles that cater to the young, sophisticated, chic and edgy. Offering sizes Ace-Ace3 (large-3x).

In Black /\ White

(original post date 10-12-15)

How I accomplished this day to night look-

The first look is pretty relaxed. I pinned up the sides of this flared black and white Ace Blakley dress to make it more of a long-line shirt and wore it belted. I rocked a pair of black tights with black leather above the knee flat boots. The yellow hat added a bit of color to the ensemble.

For the night look I unpinned the sides, ditched the tights and put on some gladiator open toe shoes. I braided my hair off to the side to give it more of an elegant look. My handmade book clutch added a little pizazz!

Flare Flatters

(original post date 10-10-15)

This Ace Blakley peplum top is one of my favs for fall. Yes it's sleeveless, but it can be layered! Maybe a thin denim or leather jacket on a breezy night? Yup! Sounds good to me. I also like this shirt style because there are so many different options for bottoms that would look great...tights, skinny jeans and even a pencil skirt for the office then off to happy hour.
