ChaCha N'Kole Commercial Makeover

Over this past weekend I had the pleasure of being a part of filming a commercial. Who was the commercial for you ask? Hmmmmm I'm not at liberty to say lol. Just know it was for a good cause...a very good cause. Anyway, before I went to shoot I decided to get all dolled up. You would expect that if I was planning to be in front of the camera, but nope I was hired to be in the background :) . I still felt the need to get girly (sometimes I have that urge). Below are a few pictures of my make-up skills I tried to show off lol. It was my first time trying contouring. Let me know if you have any tips or techniques you think I should try.

My before and after picture
(you know I had to make the before look super drastic (extra close/no smile). That's what makes the after look so fantastic lol)
My attempt at contouring

Finished product with a bold pink lip and a smile. This was a little much for me (says the girl who wore blue lipstick) so I decided to go with the look below.

The perfect look for the occasion. I wasn't super done-up, just a enough to give me that girly feel and I love this subtle pink lip.

The C.U.R.V.V. Movement

:::Friends, Family and Supporters:::

The C.U.R.V.V. Fashion Exhibit at the University of Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology

It has been 15 days since the C.U.R.V.V. Fashion Exhibit in Philadelphia and I am still on a C.U.R.V.V. high. One would think that I would be the first blogger to write about it especially since it was my exhibit, but I just needed some time to regroup and focus on some tasks I have neglected during the planning process of C.U.R.V.V.

I am sincerely overjoyed by the support and love that was shown to me and my team during the exhibit. We worked so hard to pull everything together and I couldn’t have selected a better group of ladies to work with. The obstacles we had to overcome made this event nothing short of a miracle. Who knew that filming and editing a movie, planning a fashion exhibit at a museum, working a full-time job and running a business all at the same time with only 3 short months to plan would be so overwhelming? We did! And we were all up for the challenge. Because of this, the trending hash-tag is now #CURVVswerve. C.U.R.V.V. Swerve definition: (noun) any opposer that attempts to delay or halt the growth of an individual. This word can also describe the actions of an antagonist “throwing shade”, demonstrating jealousy or diligently working to make sure one does not succeed. Additional terms, hash-tags and phrases that originated through the production process of “C.U.R.V.V.” are “The Struggle”, “The Struggle Is Real”, “The Struggle Is Too Real” and “The Bearded Wonder” amongst other clever and witty sayings...Yea I know, what does this all mean? Once the outtakes are posted on C.U.R.V.V. TV you all will be able to fully understand and laugh along.

A lot of people have asked if the movie will be posted on C.U.R.V.V. TV anytime soon and the answer is unfortunately not.The movie is in the process of being revamped. "C.U.R.V.V." will official premiere June 2014. We are looking to receive backing to make it a feature film in the latter part of 2014 *Fingers Crossed...Prayers Up*.

Now I could try to put the C.U.R.V.V. experience into words, but I think it would be better to let you view the images from the C.U.R.V.V. festivities to get a real feel for the atmosphere and tone of the event.

PHILADELPHIA-October 13, 2013- ChaCha N’Kole in collaboration with DesignPhiladelphia announces C.U.R.V.V., An Exhibit Curated by ChaCha N’Kole

C.U.R.V.V. (Creations.Ultimately.Redefining.Views of.Voluptuous women)

ChaCha N’Kole and DesignPhiladelphia has joined together to bring to you the first ever museum exhibition to highlight full-figured high-fashion as well as an original fashion short film produced jointly by ChaCha N’Kole and TsiTsi P. Productions. The event will be held at the University of Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, 3260 South Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, Sunday October 13, 2013 at 6pm.

This exhibit will consist of 12 handmade gowns, designed and constructed by ChaCha N’Kole, inspired by the art work currently on display at the University of Penn Museum. The collection will focus mainly on the Egyptian sector of the museum which was assembled through nearly a century of archaeological research. Students and seasoned designers will have the opportunity to display one garment that best represents an assigned section of the exhibits surrounding the Upper Egyptian Gallery. These pieces will be judged on accuracy of incorporated historic reference, creativity, technique and execution. Fashion and Art History instructors from The University of Pennsylvania, Moore College of Art & Design and the Art Institute of Philadelphia will be invited to critique each submission piece.

The subsequent short film, also entitled "C.U.R.V.V.", is an independent film written and directed by ChaCha N'Kole and TsiTsi P. Productions. This fictional story takes place in the city and shows an aspiring plus-size model's struggle to suppress insecurities while pursuing her lifelong dream to slay the runway. She constantly studies her craft, but is too afraid of what people may think to pursue it. That all changes once she finds a mentor that shows her that she has more than enough beauty and talent to make it in the fashion industry. It's a very moving, witty and entertaining piece sure to evoke emotion in all viewers.

The night will begin when guests are guided through the lit Warden Garden and up the imperial staircase that leads to the featured exhibit. The historic and architectural beauty of the interior will capture the hearts of all those who attend. After guests browse each piece from the collection with their own personal tour guide they will be escorted to the theater for the first ever viewing of the independent short film “C.U.R.V.V.”.

Our goal is to encourage fashion designers to study and utilize historical reference to inspire future collections or works of art. We would like to show the Philadelphia fashion community a different way of displaying and interpreting fashion. With the short film we are promoting positive self-perception, hard work and determination.

We hope you join us for this night of culture, innovation and imagination.
